a few points to note;
– Shaw is now our weak link in defense, his forward play is non-existent, holds on to the ball way too long at times, causing defenders to close down spaces for the attacking options ( i now believe Jose when he said he had to tell Shaw what to do everytime), and often loses sight of his man when the opponent attack down the right side. Unpopular opinion: Young has looked better at LB so far, as much as i hate to say it.

– McTominay has seemed to be thriving as the box to box player, we saw how well he did vs Kristiansund in assisting with the press higher up the pitch, arriving in the box & getting shots off. the 4-2-3-1 works better atm, 4-3-3 with a single pivot DM (McTominay) won't be as fruitful as we'd like. I'd be willing to try it tho

– Daniel James, i actually like the lad….but outside of his pace & press, he leaves a lot to be desired, especially on the part of the pitch where we need our players to be intelligent and clinical. James has to be an off the bench impact player for me, definitely not a regular starter. Pace isn't everything, our players need to be intelligent.

– Rashford vs Martial for #9, fluidity is key, Rashford is not as good in tight spaces as Martial, hence it would make more sense for Rashford to play as a wide forward with freedom, he has pace & a powerful shot & from what we saw vs Kristiansund he will get a lot of opportunities, he just has to be smarter with his decisions & clinical with his shots..but that position allows him that time and space. the fluidity will help as well and their starting positions will vary based on the opponents. Martial has really improved his game, he presses now, his off the ball movement is getting better and he is arguably our most clinical finisher, give him more opportunities and you'd see, a chemistry has to be developed and Ole alluded to this.

– Mason Greenwood is the real deal.

i'd go with: DDG – AWB Lindelof Axel Young – McTominay Pogba – Greenwood Mata Rashford – Martial
