It’s United’s second fixture in the International Champions Cup. Tonight they take on Premier League rivals, Liverpool, after playing Serie A giants AC Milan. So far Man United are yet to win in 90 minutes during their pre-season tour having drawn 1-1 against Milan and then winning 9-8 on penalties!
United will look to improve on their previous result and look to beat rivals Liverpool. With players like Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, De Gea and Lukaku still on a break having played at the FIFA World Cup 2018, it gives fringe and youth players a chance to impress the boss, Jose Mourinho. Youngsters like Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood will look to show off their talent with any minutes they get on the pitch, whilst players such as Tuanzebe, Fosu-Mensah and Pereira will be given the chance to prove themselves and earn a place in the squad for the upcoming Premier League season. Some Man Utd News is that Fred has joined up with the squad after playing for Brazil in the 2018 Fifa World Cup, something to look forward to!
This will be Liverpool’s last fixture in the ICC, they have currently won one against Manchester City and lost one against Borussia Dortmund. They will also look to have a good game before they start their Premier League campaign. Players such as Mo Salah, Fabinho, Mané and Van Dijk will be on show giving them a much stronger starting XI to choose from, not to mention youngsters Ben Woodburn and Sheyi Ojo. The reason Liverpool seem to have quite a strong squad is that many of their players either didn’t go to the World Cup or went and exited the competition early.
This should be a big test for both teams, and will be a good indication for fans to see how fit and ready their players are for this upcoming season.

I personally don’t think Chelsea (or any team) can go for the Europa League and win the PL… The EL is so difficult to play Thursday/Sunday, Thursday/Sunday ad infinitum; so many games, so much traveling, so many injuries, so many good opponents. Mourinho had to choose and prioritized EL over top four. He gambled and won; but Sarri will have to choose also. My advice is for Chelsea to play youth next season in EL, exit early, and go for top 4.
People who are worried about the number of United fans in the game have to understand that the US is very regional. The NE tends to be old school. I live in LA, where the demographic is new and young. I was amazed sitting in the crowd at the AC Milan game. Crowd was 85% United. Also there is huge corporate commercial promotion here (not that I like that garbage) by United. No contest.
