Marco Giampaolo is out as AC Milan manager after losing four of the club’s first seven matches in the 2019-20 Serie A season. ESPN FC’s Gab Marcotti breaks down how Giampaolo became the shortest-serving Milan manager ever and explains how his likely replacement, former Inter Milan and Fiorentina manager Stefano Pioli, can help the Rossoneri fulfill their top-four ambitions this season.

Byron says:

THERE'S A PRPBLEM IN THE MIND OF PLAYERS. AND THERE'S ANOTHER LITTLE PROBLEM. ELLIOTT IS NOT PRESENT NEAR TO THE PLAYERS!! AC MILAN after REAL MADRID is the second most successful football club in the world….but after Berlusconi there's a problem with the propriety. It's not enough buy young players…..AC MILAN has need old strong players like IBRA.

Aidy Gooner says:

Juve, Inter and Napoli are guaranteed top 3 and it's a battle between the Rome teams for top 4. Sadly I don't see Milan returning to their home competition anytime soon with the lack of direction from the boardroom.

Arani Caceres says:

Shouldve just kept gattuso

Gabriel Ambo says:

My most fear is Milan will end up like Nottingham Forest

Joy Diaz says:

Instead of Pioli they should have appointed Max Allegri

Manuel Dossetto says:

This team lacks personality, and not bc of age: the older guys (Suso and Çalhanoğlu for example) are the worst personality wise, while the best is Donnarumma who is the younger player of the squad.
Giampaolo didn't have the tools to build that kind of confidence, but I'm afraid Pioli doesn't have them either

gaetano petrosino says:

Pioli is a good manager ! Him USE more abc fotball skill !

Giovanni Aj says:

Milan is seriea manutd and vice versa

Gary Mathe says:

We do have a squad capable of top 4. We were only 1 point and a few minutes away last season, and we have signed several good players since then. Any decent coach should be able to do it. Give Pioli a chance. Certainly can't be worse than Giampaolo. The days of luring managers like Mourinho, or even Allegri are gone. They are used to playing in the Champions League and challenging for domestic titles every single year. That's simply not the current reality at Milan. We need to get back to the CL by reaching 4th place, build the new stadium, then in 3-4 years we might start thinking about the Scudetto. Unfortunately, Berlusconi never made sure that Milan was financially viable, and when his political career ended, and he no longer needed the propaganda tool, he offloaded the debt-ridden club.

Ankle Socks says:

Playing around with torreira in the media only to get sacked 7 games into the season, you hate to see it. Very embarrassing from milan as well, they deserve to go into the ground.

Real Talk says:

Giampaolo wasn't influencing the players.. they never buy his ideas.

Vincent Productions says:

well, the problem isn't the coach, the problem is the board.

Goede Middag says:

Gattuso was well

Teukka says:

They need to sign world class manager and actually try to use their youth academy

SIMON THOMSON says:

Total shambles of a club. The rot began 14 years ago when Berlusconi stopped inveting in them, and they've been going backwards for the most part ever since. The CL win of '07 was the last hurrah of a great team, but they were ageing by then. Gimmick signings like Ronaldinho and Robinho were then replaced by dreadful freebies and loans. Now they're the 4th-highest net spenders in the world since 2015 till Jan '19 and they haven't improved at all.

Milanista Omar says:

Ac Milan is right now like a Ferrari without a engine, I mean come on u need at least 2 experience players and a better RB than calabria, if u watch ac milan games u will see the problems comes from the CM – RB.

Hafitz Fahruzi says:

i prefer Max Allegri than this man, now we know why Milan never going up to the top position, always mediocre coach

el tiks says:

So sad for ac milan who the heck is pioli

lightdialga says:

ESPN is better in givin these type of news than whole Italy. Change my mind

Simshine95 says:

Take them to Serie B? Yes he can

sim dogg says:

I was all for giampaolo but it reached a point were every single fan had a different way of thinking to the starting line up. The players instantly stopped believing in him. We have the players theres no excuses

Ola Drizz says:

Firing a manager after 7 games is absurd and disgraceful

Akshay Sharma says:

The team owners are the main culprits No matter how many managers they would change if they don't wanna sign good players or try to spend some serious money then it will go on.

Football Club David says:

Massimiliano Allegri.

D FS says:

Stupid decision. Pioli is even worse than Giampaolo
