Some could say it was karma that Sosa missed that penalty, in that if it hadn't been for his dive in the first leg then chances are the result on the night would've been good enough to take Villa through anyway. That's not to say that this isn't up there with the all time memories….to think I was just 9 watching all this in the Holte End
Was a fantastic game and Villa were on fire that night. Hard to believe a few weeks later Doug would sack Big Ron and bring in Brian Little for a relegation fight.
The best atmosphere I've ever experienced at Villa Park. The place was rocking from start to finish.
What a night. I remember running on the pitch. Back then that sort of thing was seen as an expression of joy.
Both teams were knocked out by Helsingborg a couple of years later 😀
