It was thought AC Milan would buy Higuain outright from Juventus at the end of his loan this summer. However, Fass has revealed a permanent transfer would depend on Milan qualifying for the Champions League this season. She claims Higuain only learned of this in December and is now keen on quitting Milan, with a move to Chelsea rumoured. “On one side you have what the player would want and what [Maurizio] Sarri would want,” Fass told Sky Sports News. On the other hand an operation that would be very difficult to put together. “Higuain, when he arrived at AC Milan, he was sure that by the end of the year after the loan they would pay him up, they would keep him. And the fact that they were getting him on loan was just linked to the fact that there were some UEFA regulations. Now it seems like it is linked more to a result to achieving the Champions League. When he understood this just before Christmas, his mood changed. Now he wants to leave. Higuain scored 36 Serie A goals in one season under Sarri when the pair were at Napoli. Fass admits it would be great for the Argentine to move to Stamford Bridge but understands his wage demands may not be met at Chelsea. “It would be amazing for him to go to Chelsea because Sarri, in Italy, we call him the maestro, the teacher, for the way he teaches his players,” she added. And he was a real teacher for Higuain when he was at Napoli with Sarri, that’s when he played at his best. Behind all of this there is a really complex situation because he’s currently on loan at AC Milan, his contract is with Juventus, so if they don’t pay to keep him at AC Milan he will go back to Juventus in the summer. If Chelsea want to get him they would have to find an agreement with AC Milan and with Juventus. The player currently earns around £9m net salary a year so it is quite a big operation to put together. And at the moment, from what we understand, Chelsea on the management side are not willing to pay that for a player who is over 30.
